Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
SurveyKeeper lets you create surveys and feedback forms, share them by link, and collect the answers in a spreadsheet in your own Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled. It covers two kinds of people: form owners, who sign in and create forms, and respondents, who answer them. By using SurveyKeeper you agree to this policy.
Information we access
- Your sign-in profile. When you sign in with Google or Microsoft we receive your name and email address (for Microsoft, your account's sign-in name). This identifies your account, is shown in the app, and is used to match forms that other people share with you.
- What you create. Your forms, questions, share links and their settings (labels, expiry dates, response limits).
- Responses. The answers respondents submit, the time they submitted, and which link they used. If a link asks for it, also the respondent's name and email (typed in, or taken from their Google or Microsoft sign-in), as described under "Respondents" below.
Where your data is stored
SurveyKeeper has no database for your forms or responses. They are stored in one file the app creates in your own account: a Google Sheet in your Google Drive if you sign in with Google, or an Excel workbook in your OneDrive's Apps folder if you sign in with Microsoft. The file is yours. You can open, edit, export or delete it at any time.
The only data kept outside your file is in a private registry spreadsheet controlled by the app operator:
- An account record for everyone who signs in: your name, email, which provider you used, the ID and link of your file, and an OAuth access grant (a refresh token) for it. The record is encrypted before it is stored. The grant is what lets respondents submit answers into your file, and people you share with see your form, while you are away.
- Sharing entries. If you share a form, the registry records the form, the email address you shared it with, and their role (viewer or editor).
Respondents
If you are answering a form, your answers go directly into the form owner's file. The form owner, not SurveyKeeper, decides what to ask, who can see the answers, and how they are used. Please contact them about anything you submitted.
- Anonymous links record only your answers and the time.
- "Name & email optional" links record whatever you choose to type.
- Sign-in links ask you to sign in with Google or Microsoft. SurveyKeeper then receives only your name and email (no access to your files), saves them next to your answers, and uses them to allow one response per person. A cookie remembers them for up to a day so you don't have to sign in again.
Sharing forms with others
When you share a form, the people you add can see its links and responses inside SurveyKeeper, and editors can change its questions and links. To show them your form, SurveyKeeper reads your file using your stored grant. They are never given access to your Google Drive or OneDrive file itself. You can remove anyone at any time on the form's Sharing tab.
Google and Microsoft permissions
Google: SurveyKeeper requests your basic sign-in profile (openid,
email, profile) and the drive.file scope, which allows access
only to the spreadsheet the app itself creates. It cannot see, read or change any other file in
your Google Drive.
SurveyKeeper's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide the app's survey features. It is never sold, never used for advertising, never transferred to third parties except as needed to provide those features, and never read by humans except with your permission, for security, or to comply with the law.
Microsoft: SurveyKeeper requests your basic sign-in profile, offline_access and
Files.ReadWrite.AppFolder, which confines it to its own folder in your OneDrive. It
cannot see, read or change anything else in your OneDrive.
Respondents who sign in grant only basic profile access, with no file access at all.
Cookies
SurveyKeeper uses only encrypted, first-party cookies: one keeps you signed in (up to 30 days), one protects the sign-in round-trip (10 minutes), and, for sign-in links, one remembers a respondent's name and email (1 day). There are no analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Hosting, logs and third-party services
SurveyKeeper is hosted on Vercel, which automatically records short-lived technical logs (IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, status and time) to operate and secure the service. The app's own logs record technical errors only, never form contents, answers or tokens.
Pages load styling and fonts from Tailwind's CDN and Google Fonts, and the QR-code generator from cdnjs. Like any website loading a file, those providers can see your IP address and browser details. Your data is processed by Google or Microsoft under their own privacy policies when it is stored in your file.
Retention, deletion and revoking access
- Your forms and responses stay in your file until you delete them. Archiving a form only hides it in the app; its rows remain in your file.
- Disconnect on the Account page immediately deletes your account record (including the stored grant) and every share you created. Your share links then stop working.
- Delete the SurveyKeeper file from your Google Drive or OneDrive to remove all your form data.
- Revoke the app's access from your Google Account permissions or Microsoft account app permissions page (work or school accounts: My Apps).
- Respondents: ask the form owner to remove your answers from their file.
Security
Grants and cookies are encrypted, all traffic uses HTTPS, sign-in uses the OAuth authorization-code flow with PKCE, and the app never asks for or sees your passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information described here.
Children
SurveyKeeper is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and form owners must not use it to knowingly collect personal information from them without the consent required by law.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
SurveyKeeper is a free tool provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SurveyKeeper, its developer and its operator are not liable for any loss or corruption of data, lost responses, or other damages arising from your use of the app. You are responsible for keeping your own backups. See the Terms of Service for the full limitation of liability.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
